This song started with Juniper's playing Michael some Harry Styles songs - and Michael being inspired to attempt to write something in that ballpark.

Recording started with a sparse home demo that Steve drummed along to, recorded by Scott Anthony at Storybook Sound.

Unlike many of our past sessions, on which vocals, bass, drums & guitars were recorded together, this way of working (piecing the song together) provides no chance to work up the arrangement as a group, but it did provide a great opportunity to really concentrate on the drums with no distractions.

The rest of the recording was done at Irving Sound Labs, our home studio, except for the saxophones, which were recorded in Argentina by Guillermina Pagano, and the lead electric guitar which Isaac Holmes recorded at his studio in Wales. (You may remember Isaac's wonderful solo on "She Steals Candy")

The nylon string guitar is a holdover from the demo, which we fully intended to replace, but never found a better part for (after trying lots of acoustic and electric and rhythmic variations). The piano solo is also from the demo, intended to be temporary and added just to show Steve where the solo would be when adding the drums, and was played on a cellphone with a mic up to the speaker on the free KORG piano app.
